Research Department
Main content

Markets influence economic well-being, but also access to education and jobs. We examine global changes and challenges such as digitalization and inequality from a behavioral economics perspective, with a special focus on decision-making behavior and economic institutions.  The department's topics include the role of artificial intelligence in improving the decisions of doctors or managers, the search for suitable procedures for assigning pupils to schools or students to universities, and the investigation of people's normative ideas about how money or other goods should be distributed in society.

The work of the unit can be grouped into three main areas.

A. School choice, university admissions, and other matching markets

B. Social norms, ethics, and the origin of behavior

C. Bad decisions in markets
