The WZB Alumni: A World Wide Network

Since the alumni network was founded in 2013, almost 900 former WZB employees have agreed to take part in the alumni network.

Our alumni newsletter regularly informs you about the alumni news and special events at the WZB. Please bear with us that we will mostly communicate via e-mail. If you wish to get additional information on the activities of the WZB, we recommend you to register on the regular WZB mailing list.

We are always interested in news from you: whether it is your current address or the one of a co-alumnus, a new position in academia or off-campus.

Christoph Albrecht, Knuth Dohse, Bernhard Glaeser and Tatjana Zieher are our informal alumni speakers. You can contact them here. Anyone willing to join them is more than welcome to alumni [at] wzb.eu (contact us).

WZB Alumni Reunion and Reading 2022

In June 2022, WZB alumnae and alumni finally met again at the WZB. At the center of the program was a reading with Martin Doerry, who read from the letters of German-Jewish doctor Lilli Jahn with her children – the oldest child was Gerhard Jahn, later co-founder of the WZB. After the reading, the alumni had the opportunity to look at the newly completed winter garden of the WZB and enjoyed the reunion in the courtyard. Impressions of the evening and the video recording can be found here.

WZB-Alumni Interviews from 2014

Alumni reunion

On May 04, 2017 that year's alumni reunion took place at WZB. The event began with the discussion series"Young researchers meet politics", followed by the alumni meeting.

Alumni engagement

Our alumni are actively involved in the WZB in many ways - as "Friends of the WZB" or as mentors at our Career Day, advising and supporting young researchers with their knowledge and expertise.

My WZB

The WZB in one sentence? Your best memory? We document it for you.

"The WZB combines the highest standards of social science with a public purpose to create the most intellectually stimulating places I have ever worked." (Prof. Mark Cassell, Kent State University)
