Dr. Kristin Thompson
Kristin Thompson (née Bothur) is the project manager for the Fairwork project, which is based at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. Through a global network of researchers, Fairwork evaluates the working conditions of digital platforms and ranks them based on our five principles of fair work. The Fairwork project is currently operating in over 25 countries across 5 continents. Fairwork researchers work closely with workers, platforms, advocates and policymakers to envision and build a fairer future of work.
Kristin is an experienced research and project manager in the field of social inequalities and social policy research. Before joining the Fairwork project, she has worked in this position at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, SOCIUM Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy and the Center for Social Policy Research (ZeS) as well as for the research network Welfare Societies at the University of Bremen. She holds degrees in Sociology, Politics, Public Administration and Philosophy. Kristin completed her PhD on the topic of labour markets, working conditions and the socioeconomic status of pop and rock musicians in Germany. She is interested in research concerning social, health and economic inequalities, social policy, labour precariousness, impacts of digitalization and creative industries.
