Prof. Michael T. Hannan
Michael T. Hannan is Stratacom Professor of Management in the Graduate School of Business and Professor of Sociology at Stanford University. His research concentrates on the ecology of organizations, categories in markets, and the development of formal theories of sociological processes. His current theoretical projects seek to formalize geometric models of the structure of social categories. His empirical work addresses the emergence and persistence of categories in markets for goods such as French and Italian wines, Scotch whisky, films, books, and restaurants.
